become thoroughly conversant with the cultural norms (such as greetings, courtesy) of the Yoruba people, as well as historical, linguistic and literary aspects of the Yoruba language
communicate proficiently in the Yoruba language, to transfer knowledge and perform effective transactions, as well as initiating them into some level of academic research;
acquire soft skills necessary for professional activities such as communication skills, intercultural competence, text editing and technical writing;
acquire skills necessary to prepare them for professional translation;
develop linguistic competences such as writing, listening, speaking and mediation skills in the Yoruba language.
The YLCPP is aimed at offering prospective students the skills needed to speak the Yoruba language fluently at the basic level. At advanced level, enthusiasts will gain a broader knowledge of the cultural, historical and social norms of the Yoruba people as embedded in the language, as well as a proficient reading and writing skill. The Immersion programme has been designed to offer participants first-hand experience with the culture, language and the general worldview of the Yoruba among the indigenous Yoruba speaking population in South West Nigeria.

This is a one-month additional activity for interested graduates of the on-line and physical instruction-based courses to further augment the knowledge they have acquired. This will be in form of guided tour of markets and areas of interest for transactions and interactions; and living-in with families. Duration is three (3) months each for Basic and Advanced, to run concurrently between July and September each year commencing from 2021.
