Prof. Uchenna Udeani
Prof. Udeani’s area of research interest is conceptual learning relating to the use of prior conceptions and adaptive cognition in measuring the learning of science concepts. She has a special interest in the underrepresentation of girls and women in STEM disciplines and developed a Gender Inclusive Instructional Strategy for use in secondary schools to help more girls learn science. Currently she is working on an Affirmative Action Project aimed at improving girls’attitude and achievement in Science.
Prof. Udeani is a seasoned academic and has over 70 publications in both national and international journals and has successfully supervised several B. Sc (Ed) M. Ed and Ph.D students who have gone ahead to become successful educationists in the Nigerian Educational space. She has attended and presented papers at academic conferences, workshops and seminars both nationally and internationally and serves on the editorial board of some national journals.
Prof. Udeani’s expertise and influence extend beyond the academic sphere. She is a consultant to many organizations including the Federal Government of Nigeria, UNESCO, World Bank, ENERGIA, and Friends of the Environment (FoTE) ALOFOS Science Foundation, Ajesola Majekodunmi Foundation (ASMAF) She is on the Board of Nigerian Breweries, Felix Ohieweri Education Trust Fund and CDNet a Career Development Initiative for youths. She works as an Equal Opportunities Specialist for several non-governmental organizations. Prof. Udeani was appointed a member of the Program Committee of the International Dialogue on STEM (IDoS) in Germany.
In a career spanning over forty years, Prof. Udeani has held various academic, administrative, and professional positions within the University of Lagos and was the immediate past Director of the Distance Learning Institute. She belongs to several learned and professional associations.
Beyond her professional career, Prof. Udeani is involved in several community projects aimed at empowering women in Leadership, Politics, Education and Life Skills
Prof. Hikmot Koleoso
Professor Hikmot Koleoso is a Professor of Estate Management and a Registered Estate Surveyor and Valuer with a career that spans over 30 years. She has B.Sc., MSc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and holds a Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors PG.D., and a PG.C in Educational Studies both from universities in the United Kingdom (UK). She also obtained Leadership Education Certifications from Imperial College Business School, (London) and Cranfield Business College both in the UK.
She worked as an Estate Surveyor at the Federal Ministry of Works, in private practice and also rose to the position of Head of Premises in a bank before she joined UNILAG in 1999, where she currently lectures in both Undergraduate and Post-Graduate PG Programmes.
Hikmot has held many administrative and academic positions within and outside UNILAG community and international positions including; Director of Education Africa Facilities Management Association (2020 till date), Sub Dean Faculty of Environmental Sciences (2019-2021), Member of UNILAG Senate (2018 till date), Member of Board UNILAG School of Post Postgraduate studies (2013-2019 and 2021-2023), PG Prog Coordinator Dept of Estate Management (2013-2019), Coordinator Foundation Prog, Faculty of Env Science (2009-2011 and 2019 to 2021) and Coordinator BSc. Estate Management Part time Prog (2004 to 2009), amongst others.
Olakunle Esther Makinde
Olakunle Esther Makinde (Mrs.), MNIM, fisn was born on June 21, 1963 in Osogbo, Osun State. She attended the Prestigious University of Ife, Ile-Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.) and Masters Degree with Distinction in Microbiology in 1985 and 1988 respectively. She also undertook and passed with Distinction, the Advanced Diploma in Human Resources Management at the University of Lagos in 1998.
She pursued her professional qualification as an Administrator by obtaining with Distinction, the Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA) from the prestigious Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, ASCON, Badagry in July, 2002. Her service to the Nation, through the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), was as an Assistant Lecturer at the College of Science and Technology, Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna, Kaduna State, Nigeria from 1985 to 1986.
She is a Chartered Trainer; licensed by the Centre for Management Development (CMD), Shangisha-Lagos, Nigeria (October, 2013). Mrs. Makinde is a seasoned Public Administrator with over 38 years post qualification experience, 27 of which have been in University Administration.
She first cut her teeth as an Administrator on July 3, 1989 at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Ikoyi-Lagos as an Administrative Officer 1, before transferring her services to the University of Lagos on November 1, 1996 as Senior Assistant Registrar.In JAMB, she worked assiduously in different Units including the Registrar’s Office, Admissions Office, Test Development and Test Administration Departments where she contributed, with integrity to the success of the organisation, in no small measure.
Her record of exemplary services spans various Sections of the University of Lagos Registry.
Mrs. Makinde is currently the Acting Registrar of the prestigious University of Lagos, Nigeria, having been appointed to the position on August 1, 2023. As the Acting Registrar & Secretary to Council and Chief Administrative Officer of the University, she assists the Vice Chancellor in the day-to-day smooth administration, advising the University Management on strategic matters, strategies, policy formulation and implementation, as well as providing quality and exemplary leadership to Registry staff. Before her appointment as Acting Registrar, she was the Acting Director, Directorate of Academic Affairs. She had previously worked in almost all the Units of the University Registry such as Personnel Division, Human Resources Development Board, University Examinations Office, Students Records Office, Staff Training and Development Unit, Student Affairs, Distance Learning Institute including being a Personal Assistant to a Vice Chancellor and has also served, at different times, as Faculty Officer and Secretary to several Statutory and Ad-Hoc Committees of the University.
In all of these, she added tremendous value to the various units, which earned her Awards of Excellence from Students’ Associations and Letters of Commendation from University Management, Senate and her Superiors.
She is a member of many Local and International Professional Associations including the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM), Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Association (MANUPA), Association of University Administrators, AUA, United Kingdom (AUA) A, International, Nigerian Institute of Training and Development (MNITAD). She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Security, Nigeria (fisn). Mrs. Makinde is blessed with children.
Oluwafunmilola Y. Adekunle
Mrs. Oluwafunmilola Yetunde Adekunle was born on the 23rd August 1976. She attended Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, Akure Ondo state, for her school leaving certificate. She immediately gained admission to the Ogun State Polytechnic Abeokuta for Ordinary National Diploma and the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro for her Higher Diploma in Accounting. Still not satisfied, she went ahead to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree and Master’s degree both in Accounting from the University of Lagos.
In 2002 she became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a Fellow of the Institute in 2012.
She joined the services of the University of Lagos in 2005 after 4 years in the banking industry.
She was the Deputy Bursar in charge of the Treasury unit from where she was appointed the Bursar of the University of Lagos on the 3rd of November 2022.
She is happily married with children.
